Information and Location

Set in beautiful mature gardens Lakes apartments are situated a short walk from both the centre of Bowness Town with its wealth of shops, bars and restaurants and the picturesque shores of Lake Windermere.

Each apartment has it's own off street private parking space. We understand that our guests sometimes travel long distances to visit us and it can be difficult to estimate your time of arrival, with this in mind we have flexible check-in times and the properties also have key boxes for our guests who may need to arrive very late in the evening.

The Local Area

Bowness-on-Windermere is a lively, vibrant town situated in the in the heart of the Lake District National Park. Whether you enjoy Walking, Cycling, Sailing, Water sports, Golfing or simply enjoying the wealth of local shops and eateries, Bowness has something for everyone. Bowness is and ideal base for visiting Windermere, Coniston, Hawkshead, Ambleside, Grasmere, Newby Bridge and Kendal which are all a short driving distance away.

Potters Retreat, luxury apartment with Hot Tub

Our stay at Potter’s Retreat was simply divine. The accommodation itself is to the highest quality and finished with thoughtful touches such as wine and chocolates, along with everyday essentials. Anita and Tony were extremely welcoming and made our stay very straight forward. We feel privileged to be one of the first guests to stay at the retreat which has a brand new feel about it. Our favourite part was relaxing in the evening out side in the hot tub and enjoying the privacy and peacefulness that the Retreat offers! We really hope that we get the chance to return and we thoroughly recommend Potter’s Retreat as a must stay whilst you visit Windmere/Bowness! Lauren and Jai.

Getting around

The Lodge is situated just under a mile (approximately 15 minutes walk) from the main shops, bars and restuarants in Bowness-on-windermere. The cost of a Taxi from the property to Bowness-on-Windermere is approximately £3.50. The lodge is 400 metres from Lake Windermere and the Bowness Ferry. The nearest train station is Windermere which is 2.4 miles away. Oxenholme station at Kendal is 12 miles away and has direct trains to many mainline destinations including London Euston, Glasgow, Manchester and Birmingham.
